Jason Wang, the son of the founder of Xi'an Famous Foods, tweeted that the move was his way of thanking Bourdain for featuring his family's business on an early episode of "No Reservations", which Wang says caused the restaurant's popularity to boom overnight.

The show often saw Bourdain being accompanied by high-profile faces, including Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

"Though I've spent half my life watching people, guiding them, trying to anticipate their moods, motivations and actions, running from them, manipulating and being manipulated by them, they remain a mystery to me", Bourdain mused in Kitchen Confidential.

A couple weeks ago, my parents and I sat down to watch the new episode of Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" about Armenia, a country whose tragic and resilient history is inextricably interwoven with my family's own.

He added: 'My thoughts are with his daughter and family.

The death of the 61-year-old is being reported by CNN as a suicide.

French authorities said Bourdain died by hanging at a luxury hotel, the Chambard, in the village of Kaysersberg in the Haut-Rhin region of Alsace.

The multi-talented Bourdain was in France working on his CNN series, Parts Unknown, at the time of his death, the network confirmed.

"Anthony gave all of himself in everything he did", Argento wrote. "His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds".

Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in France.
