Conservative Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz also defended Jordan, saying the allegations were a "deliberate attempt to knock the best oversight member of Congress off his game" ahead of Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok's testimony before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees this week.

They said there was no way Jordan, an assistant coach, didn't know about the allegations because the entire team and coaching staff had repeatedly discussed it.

Jordan has tried to discredit his accusers, especially DiSabato, and his office has sent statements to the press from figures in the wrestling world defending the Ohio Republican, including from the team's former coach.

'To date, the investigative team has received confidential reports from former Ohio State varsity men student-athletes affiliated with cheerleading, fencing, football, gymnastics, ice hockey, swimming, volleyball and wrestling, ' a university official said in a statement earlier this year. Nick Nutter, an All-American wrestler in the 1990s, said he constantly did a calculation before deciding whether to see Strauss: "Is this injury bad enough that I'm going to get molested for it?"

Andy Geiger said he does recall some concerns about voyeurism in the showers at the university's Larkins Hall but nothing specifically involving the doctor.

Strauss died in 2005.

In April, the university announced an independent investigation into former sports physician Richard Strauss, who is accused of groping athletes during appointments.

"I know they know what they're saying is not accurate", Jordan said.

Two other wrestlers have also told NBC and the Wall Street Journal respectively that Jordan knew of the alleged abuse.

"Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than people coming up and talking about abuse", Jordan said on Fox News last Friday.

Yetts said he and his teammates talked to Jordan numerous times about their interactions with the doctor. "If Jimmy says he didn't know, I believe him", Alf said. I think we have to look at these things in context.

"The well-being of student-athletes was all of our concern", the statement continued. "If we had heard of any abuse, we would have spoken up", they stated.

Diana Banister, president of Shirley & Banister Public Affairs, declined to say when reached by email whether the firm was working for the coaches pro bono.

Strauss described the fondling as just "doing his job", said ex-wrestler Denyasha Yetts.

"Our family was shocked and saddened to hear the allegations of misconduct against the late Dr. Richard H. Strauss", said his family in a statement Sunday. It was also responsible for hiring Fusion GPS, the company that produced the now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump's connections to Russian Federation.

"Perkins Coie boasts a client roster that includes the DNC, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and several Democrat Members of Congress", he said in the statement.

"Whatever payments were received for trying to destroy President Trump may be available to destroy other high-achieving Republicans", Gohmert stated.

"I'm proud to stand by Jim Jordan and support him 100 percent and call on all of my colleagues to do the same", he told CNN.
