Bob Woodward will release book on Trump this September

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward is working on a book about the inner workings of the Trump administration, set to be published later this year.

The book - the latest in a series by Woodward dealing with United States presidencies - comes out on September 11.

The Daily Mail reported that Bob Woodward kept the book a "secret" for the past 19 months, so that he could work on it in private.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter and author will release "Fear" - his first book on the Trump administration - on September 11, 2018, just weeks before the midterm elections that could deliver a strong verdict on the President's first two years in office. "He's told friends that it feels like a 'rebirth'".

"Fear is the most intimate portrait of a sitting president ever published during a president's first years in office", one source said, adding that the book will take readers behind the scenes of the Trump White House with extensive in-the-room accounts of meetings with the President. "This is the inside story on President Trump as only Bob Woodward can tell it". The hush-hush project derives its title from an offhand remark that then-candidate Trump made in an interview with Woodward and Washington Post political reporter Robert Costa in April 2016.

The cover depicts a close-up of Trump's face, cast in a red filter.

According to the report, Woodward returns his traditional methods in the book to on-the-ground reporting to fill in the details behind the walls of the White House.

"Real power is through respect... real power is, I don't even want to use the word, 'fear, '" Trump reportedly told Woodward and Costa during the interview.

"Late at night, he's been prone to show up at important people's houses unannounced to ask for interviews", the Post reports.
