Negotiations broken between Man United and Yerry Mina

The new season is approaching with the transfer window set to slam shut next Thursday. The Mancunian club are closing in on a £60m deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.

He has been at Spurs for three seasons and made 21 appearances last season. But the Foxes rejected a £65m bid for Maguire, which forced United to look elsewhere.

The report also states that the Red Devils are confident of securing Alderweireld's services within the next 48 hours, while Spurs are happy to sell this summer due to a clause in the player's contract which would have allowed him to leave for £25m in 12 months' time.

After negotiations now, there has been a breakthrough between the two clubs. Spurs felt this will be the right move to cash in on the former Atletico Madrid man at an optimum price.

The Belgian worldwide struggled to secure first team football at Spurs last season as Mauricio Pochettino opted for Davinson Sanchez alongside Jan Vertonghen for much of the campaign amid a contract stand-off with the club.

There is plenty of Manchester United gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. The towering defender is regarded as one of the best in his position in the Premier League, despite going through a hard 2018-19 season.

The defender did have a strong 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, as he played an important hand in leading Belgium to the third-place finish in this summer's showpiece event. That meant less game time for the 29-year-old.
