Now new photographs from the Captain Marvel movie seem to confirm one of the most chilling and devstating comicbook storylines is being set up.

One more thing to talk about is the wonderful de-aging effects at Marvel's disposal.

Entertainment Weekly revealed the first images from Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel" on Wednesday.

Marvel went after Larson years ago, trying to land the acclaimed actress as the protagonist of its first female-fronted film, but she was hesitant.

Marvel fans have been waiting for this moment for some time now!

Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.

That's not a great look for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which only released its first movie (and 20th overall) with a female character in the title earlier this year.

At some point in the tale, however, Carol will be drawn back to Earth as her home planet is invaded by a race of shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls, headed by Ben Mendelsohn's Talos.

One final bit from the photos is we see a young, eyepatch-less Nick Fury who is probably still just a regular S.H.I.E.L.D officer here, kudos to the graphics team for the work they did to make Samuel L Jackson look younger than ever.

Director Anna Boden expands on that. She's amusing, but doesn't always tell good jokes. Then there's this human part of her that is flawed but is also the thing that she ends up leading by. She's amusing, but doesn't always tell good jokes. Besides the duo, there are a couple of new characters: Kree scientist Dr. Minn-Erva, Carol Danvers' old friend Maria Rambeau, together with mystery character played by Annette Bening. "But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity - and all of its messiness".

Captain Marvel has a March 8, 2019 release directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and stars Academy Award victor Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
