Beating Burnley away before the worldwide break was one thing, but Watford were flying after recording four wins in their opening four Premier League games.

"He's Marcus Rashford, Manchester United player, with an incredible number of appearances and an incredible number of minutes played at the highest level in the best possible competitions".

But from the first whistle United looked like the team in form, dominating possession and territory early on even if they seemed to have little threat in the final third as the home side defended compactly and left the Reds depending largely on crosses from wide positions.

Former captain Gary Neville says that, as a fan, he would be happy to see the 25-year-old leave if his focus was not on United, but Mourinho says the World Cup victor has not told him that he wants to go.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho turned on the pundits once more on Friday as he launched a detailed defence of his use of England worldwide striker Marcus Rashford.

At full time, Mourinho again marched straight towards United's visiting fans to applaud and greet them.

"I felt that my central defenders, they need especially in this moment of a bit of instability, they need somebody to support them, to give them the first wall, physicality".

Having faced United this season, Gracia's opinion of them has remained unchanged, adding: "I think the same as I did before the game". Since I was here, he was never one day out of selection because of my decision, only if he was injured or suspended.

"Speaking about Marcus, I think I can expect that Sunday I'm going to be highly criticised for not playing him tomorrow because some of the boys are really obsessed with me and some of them have a problem I think with some compulsive lies".

One stat highlights just how precocious Rashford is: He has scored in his senior United debut (as a late call-up for a Europa League match in February 2016), his Premier League debut, his England debut, his Champions League debut and also his first Manchester derby.

"Deserve [a draw] or not deserve, I don't know".

And I repeat, Marouane [Fellaini] is really important for them in two hard matches, matches of two-against-two, because Burnley and Watford play two strikers, two powerful strikers. Luke's evolution makes us believe he goes in the right direction and of course I want to keep him.

"I hope they will stay", the Portuguese coach said when quizzed about their futures.

"If I watch Mr. Raiola on the screen saying the players wants to leave, and that he is organising a way for him to try to leave or so on, then I will believe. But Marouane is giving us more than that - he's giving us that but he's also giving us quality and simplicty".
