Champions League: Neymar turns on style with hat-trick in PSG stroll

Paris Saint-Germain showed Red Star Belgrade no mercy as they romped to a 6-1 win in their UEFA Champions League Group C clash, with Neymar bagging a hat-trick.

Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian forward Neymar celebrates after scoring a goal during the French L1 football match between Paris Saint-Germain and Caen on August 12, 2018 at the Parc des Princes, in Paris.

Such was the imbalance between the teams that PSG were never likely to be troubled despite playing this game with one end of the Parc des Princes closed, a punishment following incidents in the defeat against Real Madrid back in March.

Neymar's opener came 20 minutes in when he was fouled, and he put the ensuing free kick inside the post and inside the goal for the 1-0 lead.

After a quiet start to the game, PSG got the breakthrough goal in the 20 minute, with Neymar curling home a fine free-kick on the edge of the box.

The lead was doubled minutes later.

It was 2-0 two minutes later as Neymar bagged his second of the game, stabbing the ball home from close range, following a cross from Kylian Mbappe.

PSG continued to dominate and they bagged a third goal in the 37th minute as Edinson Cavani wriggled away from two defenders before wrong-footing the goalkeeper.

The Serbians grabbed a consolation goal through Marko Marin in the second half, but they could not cope with the home side's front four, a quartet who cost PSG nearly 530 million euros ($610 million) in transfer fees alone.

Neymar's performance even drew a superb reaction from PSG boss Thomas Tuchel on the sidelines...
