The comedian was among hundreds that turned up at the Hart and Dirksen Senate Office Buildings in order to challenge Kavanaugh's nomination after he was accused of various kinds of sexual misconduct by three different women. Some show that the officer asked her if she wanted to be arrested, to which she replied: "Yes".

Amy Schumer was also in the crowd and was also arrested.

Malecki added that around 5:20 p.m., police responded to reports of more demonstrations in the Dirksen Senate Office Building and arrested nine more people for crowding, obstructing or incommoding.

Schumer has always been politically active, often in concert with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, who is her cousin.

Another photo showed the UCLA alum holding up a bag that read: "Kavanaugh Lies" while standing besides comedian Amy Schumer. If the GOP gets the majority of votes they need, the final roll call on Kavanaugh's nomination will likely take place over the weekend.

Actress Emily Ratajkowski also said on Instagram that she was arrested at the protest.

One fan posted a Twitter video of Amy giving a shout-out while being detained.

Inside the Capitol, senators digested the findings in the Federal Bureau of Investigation report on the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh.

He said Democrats "keep moving the goalposts" after Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) vowed on July 10 that he would do everything in his power to oppose Kavanaugh.

"You can't stay at home with something like this going on", said Angela Trzepkowski, a homemaker who drove from DE first thing in the morning to join the protests. "We're going to keep showing up", she says in the video.

Redman, who said she is a sexual assault survivor, said it "was so upsetting to watch Dr Ford's testimony and then watch the way that Kavanaugh disregarded truth".
