The Lakers are under pressure after signing James during the offseason, but they are still trying to figure out their starting lineup and how to mesh on the court with the veterans and young core.

Following their huge 114-110 road win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday night, Lakers forward LeBron James chimed in his thoughts on the looming addition of Tyson Chandler to their squad.

"We know where we're going and we know what it takes to get there". So I think we'll be even better two weeks from now, and two weeks from then.

"It just shows that what we're doing is working", Walton said of beating the Blazers for the first time since March 3, 2014.

Zubac came up big in the Lakers' victory against Portland, notching season highs of nine points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. I'd have to go back and look at it, but usually it's two or three things.

Luke Walton, in his third year as the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, has different expectation put on him and his team this season from previous iterations. We haven't had a lot of success against this franchise here in a long time or against this team period going a long way.

James finished with 29 points for the Lakers who were up 111-98 with 3:42 to go before the Mavericks went on a 15-2 run to pull even with seven seconds left. Kyle Kuzma and JaVale McGee each added 12 points. "Unless you hold a team to 80 or 90 you'll always find things you have to get better at". They got out in transition, hit a few threes, got to the rim, got to the line. So you don't just come up here and get hot and beat Portland.

LeBron discusses the reports of Tyson Chandler joining the Lakers: While the rest of the Lakers organization balked at questions surrounding the reports, LeBron James was more than comfortable to discuss the addition.

James described snapping the 16-game losing streak to Portland as the Lakers getting "over the hump".

McGee, who James said is a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, also had six blocks to add to his league-leading total.

The Mavericks, who dropped to 0-5 on the road, are one of seven teams in the National Basketball Association without a win away from home.
