Disney releases first look from live-action version of 'The Lion King'

The hotly anticipated live action remake of Disney's "Lion King" is set to release in July 2019, with Donald Glover starring as Simba and Beyoncé voicing Nala.

The new trailer compared to the same iconic scenes from the 1994 original film is bringing us all the feels!

Donald Glover takes over as Simba, the heir to the Pride Lands and son of current king, Mufasa, again voiced by the authoritatively soothing baritone of James Earl Jones.

John Oliver takes over as Zazu, with John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

The Lion King is scheduled to hit cinemas in July 2019. Chiwetel Ejiofor (Twelve Years a Slave, Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange) was called on to portray Simba's villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard (Juanita, Marvel's Luke Cage) portrays Simba's no-nonsense mother, Sarabi. So, there's no doubt that he'll do the same with The Lion King.

We can either run away from the past or learn from it, and from the looks of it, Jon Favreau learned and treated it right. "Everything the light touches is our kingdom".

Although the movie has a very big cast, involving Donald Glover, Beyonce (yes!), Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key and John Kani, for now, all we get to hear is the voice of Mufasa.

The first Lion King poster features the awesome-looking Simba stepping into a large footprint, which more than likely belongs to his father, Mufasa.

Directed by Jon Favreau, who previously directed the 2016 live-action film The Jungle Book, fans of the original 1994 film will instantly be transported the famous Circle of Life. Let us know down in the comments.
