But Julie Andrews will be heard in another blockbuster as it has been revealed she has a secret role Aquaman.

The Mary Poppins Hollywood icon will appear in the upcoming superhero film, EW confirmed on Friday (November 23). Karathen helps Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry on his journey, and Safran says that Andrews was the ideal person for the job.

"We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered", explained Aquaman producer Peter Safran.

Director Rob Marshall said of Andrews" involvement, "Julie was incredibly gracious, and we talked about it in a very general way but she made it clear right up front. Mary Poppins Returns will beat it there by a few days on December 19. Reportedly, she declined the chance to appear in the film, citing a desire not to distract from Emily Blunt's performance - totally reasonable, given the enormity of Poppins' cultural significance.

As for the timing of going against Mary Poppins Returns, Safran jokingly added, "Who knew that Aquaman would have the real Mary Poppins this Christmas?" One has Mary Poppins; the other has the original Mary Poppins. But we're only just now hearing that Julie Andrews is lending her voice to a certain character in the DC Comics adaptation.

Aquaman hits theaters December 21st, although Amazon Prime members will be able to sneak an early peek at the film on December 15th. However, she has lent her voice to the Despicable Me franchise as Gru's mother, as well as the Queen mother of Princess Fiona in the Shrek franchise.
