Redskins blog Burgundy Blog first reported that Smith was still in the hospital after undergoing surgery on November 20.

Eric Bickel of 106.7 The Fan tweeted Thursday morning that, "Hearing from several different people over last few days that Alex Smith is having devastating complications from his broken leg surgery [and is] battling infection".

A few weeks ago, Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith suffered one of the most gruesome leg injuries we've seen in the National Football League, snapping both his tibia and fibula after being sacked by JJ Watt of the Houston Texans. Smith is still in the hospital and could face more serious surgeries to fight off the infection, including "partial reconstruction".


The Redskins said Smith's family requests privacy. That alone tells you how serious the injury is.
