The Recording Academy delayed its announcement of the nominees by two days, due to the funeral of former President George H.W. Bush. While both artists have done well in the past on their own - Beyonce with 22 wins to-date and Jay Z follows just behind with 21 - the couple didn't receive any nominations in the main categories this year, such as Album Of The Year or Song Of The Year.

Other categories Lamar got nominated include, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and others.

After that show the academy expanded the four big categories from five nominees to eight, while also creating a diversity task force responding to criticism that the show was consistently too male and too white.

But last year's Grammy snub of bilingual mega-hit "Despacito" in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories has critics skeptical that a non-English track, no matter how popular, can score a major award. R&B legend Toni Braxton walked away with three nods, including Best R&B Performance, Best R&B, Song and Best R&B Album for Sex and Cigarettes.

In the decades Hip-Hop has been around, only twice did artists within the Hip-Hop community win album of the year.

Another milestone for women is in the non-classical producer of the year category, where songwriting extraordinaire Linda Perry earned a nomination. The Carters earned two nods in the R&B category along with best music video, while Grande picked up two nods in pop.

Entertainment Weekly's "Entertainers Of The Year" recipients Cardi B and Childish Gambino both racked up five nominations. The OVO superstar's Scorpion is also in the Album Of The Year race.

- Best pop vocal album: "Camila", Camila Cabello; "Meaning of Life", Kelly Clarkson; "Sweetener", Ariana Grande; "Shawn Mendes", Shawn Mendes; "Beautiful Trauma", Pink; "Reputation", Taylor Swift. But the rapper, who has received 24 nominations to-date, did not receive any nominations this year. His album "Ye" did not receive any nods. It was a moment to be surrounded by my band and the people I love.

- Best dance/electronic album: "Singularity", Jon Hopkins; "Woman Worldwide", Justice; "Treehouse", Sofi Tukker; "Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides", SOPHIE; "Lune Rouge", TOKiMONSTA. Cardi will also compete for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance ("Be Careful"), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Maroon 5 collaboration "Girls Like You". Their direct competitors are Gregory Porter, for Nat "King" Cole & Me, as well as Seal, Barbra Streisand and Willie Nelson, for albums largely featuring songbook standards.

The 2018 Grammys will take place on February 10th in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
