Vine co-founder Colin Kroll found dead in NY

USA tech star Colin Kroll, who co-founded Vine and popular gaming app HQ Trivia, was found dead Sunday in NY of an apparent drug overdose. According to TMZ, his girlfriend asked the police if they could go and check on him after she tried and failed to get in touch with him. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the NY medical examiner's office will now determine the cause of death.

What appeared to be heroin and cocaine were found on the scene and taken for further testing, the New York Times reported. The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death. "Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly hard time".

"We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it's with deep sadness that we say goodbye", it said.


Kroll co-founded Vine, the popular short-form video service acquired in 2012 by Twitter that is now defunct.

Colin Kroll, 34, was well known in the tech industry, with HQ Trivia one of his most notable creations. The real-time trivia game app was a hit, topping Apple's free game app chart in 2018. I will forever remember him for his kind soul and big heart.

He announced Kroll's passing, saying: "Colin, or CK as we called him, was a true visionary who changed the game twice. Rest in peace, brother".
