Things will get a little messier in the days following Christmas as a large storm system takes aim on the region. Wednesday will be similar to Tuesday with a chance for showers, but most will be dry.

The storm is expected to begin around daybreak today and snow will fall for several hours. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

"Then there will be quite a bit of rain in the afternoon and evening, maybe a half-inch before it switches back over to snow", Adams said. Expect sunshine and cooler temperatures.

A blast of cold air and gusty winds will take over by Friday.
