Cleveland Cavaliers sign Patrick McCaw to multi-year offer sheet

One of the weirdest restricted free agencies in recent memory is nearing its conclusion, as Patrick McCaw has signed an offer sheet with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Because they hold his rights, the Warriors have the option of either matching the Cavs offer and retaining McCaw, or letting him walk.

The Warriors will have an opportunity to match the offer, which Wojnarowski reported is worth two-years and $6 million.

McCaw averaged 4.0 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game last season before being sidelined for the last two months due to a bone bruise in his lower back.

It appears as though the 23-year-old's stint in basketball limbo has ended, thanks to the Cavaliers.

Cleveland's offer sheet is not all that expensive - McCaw turned down a two-year, $5 million offer from the Warriors before the season - but the luxury tax comes into play here. He was traded to the Golden State Warriors on draft night and spent two seasons with the Warriors. No word from the Warriors yet, but we should expect something from Golden State. If Golden State's front office decides to keep McCaw, add another $11 million to the final number. "He doesn't have the leverage".
