The first returns of the All-Star Game voting were just released, and Wade is second among guards in the Eastern Conference, trailing only Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics.

According to totals released by the league Thursday, James is the first player to get more than 1 million votes (1,083,363) for the February 17 showcase at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.

All current National Basketball Association players and a media panel each account for 25 percent of the vote, with every voter completing one full ballot featuring two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference.

To determine the 10 starters, fan voting accounts for 50 percent of the vote, with player and media votes accounting for 25 percent each. James and Stephen Curry were captains for last season's exhibition, the first under the new format. Unlike in past years, fan voting is not the end all be all. Voting for fans, players and media concludes Monday, Jan. 21 at 8:59 p.m. PT.

But most importantly, there's still time to cast your vote for Lillard, CJ McCollum, who did not make the Top 10 of Western Conference vote-getting guards, or any other Trail Blazer using the following methods. There will be five starters from each conference: two guards and three forwards. The reserves, as selected by the head coaches, will be announced January 31 on TNT.

National Basketball Association coaches will select the reserves from each conference.

The leading vote-getter from each conference is selected as a captain for their respective team in the All-Star Game.
