Chelsea are desperate to have a 20-goal-a-season striker in order to finish in the Champions League places.

But after Morata failed to score in Wednesday's draw with Southampton, Sarri appeared to lose patience, suggesting the Blues need to recruit a striker this month.

Eden Hazard has contributed ten of Chelsea's 38 league goals this season, with strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud enduring hard periods in front of goal.

"People expect a lot from the number nine at Chelsea".

Chelsea are still determined to bring in Gonzalo Higuain, with Alvaro Morata potentially loaned to Milan and €36m paid to Juventus.

At 31, there is a limit to what Higuain can achieve as the Blues leading striker, hence, it is very important Sarri find another young but proven goalscorer just like Christian Pulisic. Crouch said in a column for the Daily Mail, "A return of 38 from 21 matches isn't enough to win you a title, no matter how good your defence is".

"Chelsea have scored the fewest goals of the top six sides".

"The one thing you need is someone to score you 30 goals and they do not have a player like Harry Kane, Mo Salah or Sergio Agüero".

Argentine forward Higuain enjoyed a fine spell in his career at Napoli under former boss Sarri, with the new Chelsea boss said to be keen on a reunion at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea signed Costa in 2014 from Atlético Madrid and he made 89 appearances for the Blues, in which he scored 52 times for the London club. Crouch said, "Not so long ago, they did". Realistically, Chelsea haven't had a top-tier striker to rely on since Diego Costa headed back to Spain a year ago.

"You can talk about Gonzalo Higuaín or Karim Benzema, but I think Costa would be the one to take Chelsea where they want to be".

Peter Crouch is right.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Chelsea are close to sealing a swap deal for AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain on loan as Alvaro Morata heads to the San Siro.

"I would get Tammy Abraham back and give him a go".
