Dolly Parton receives all star tribute at the Grammys

When word got out that the Grammys would be putting on a Dolly Parton tribute at the February 10, 2019 ceremony it took only a hot second for music artists to line up at the chance to serenade the 73-year-old entertainment icon with her own songs. "We just get to hear Dolly songs all night long". But now we've heard it with Miley's Tennessee drawl, we love it even more than before.

"He's down. He's not feeling well right now", Cyrus told Variety.

Cyrus, Mendes and Mark Ronson performed "Islands in the Stream", Parton's 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers.

She then switched outfits for her first performance of the night, joining Shawn Mendes onstage while wearing a black vest with nothing underneath.

Given that she agreed to lend her talents, the diva-studded tribute to Parton at Sunday's Grammy Awards couldn't possibly have gone wrong. Pink looked stunning in a chic black suit adorned with handsome rhinestones.

A powerful tribute to the late "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin saw Yolanda Adams, Fantasia Barrino and Andra Day - who donned garters and a feathered mini skirt - slay the late Queen of Soul's classic hit (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, moving the crowd to its feet.

Perry and Musgraves sang on Dolly's hit "Here You Come Again", before Miley joined Dolly for a harmonising masterclass on "Jolene".

"We love you, Doll", Nelson said.

Other performers included Brandi Carlile, Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, Leon Bridges and Jon Batiste. Looking angelic in her all-white gown and rocking a white microphone, too, Dolly thanked Kacey and Katy for their part in her tribute, as if they weren't thrilled enough to be there already! I used to stand, stand out on the porch. More recently, Parton created the My People Fund which raised $13 million Dollars ($17.11 million CAD) to help people who lost homes, property and loved ones in the Great Smoky Mountain wildfires that year.

"It has been a wonderful journey", Parton said.

Some of Nashville's brightest musicians gathered in Los Angeles over the weekend for the 61st Grammy Awards, and while they were there, artists won numerous awards and brought forward some great performances.

At the Grammys, Miley teamed up with her godmother for two numbers, Jolene and a cover of Neil Young's After The Gold Rush, which Dolly originally recorded with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt in the mid-1990s.
