Liverpool vs Bayern Munich

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may make a late decision about fielding Dejan Lovren in tonight's Champions League second round game against Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski would eventually make the switch to Bayern, but the striker has nothing but praise for Klopp ahead of the Champions League meeting between Liverpool and the Bundesliga side on Tuesday night.

They now face Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Gary Lineker believes a return to the competition they reached the final in a year ago could be just the tonic to get their season fully back on track.

"They were six times in a row champions of Germany, which is not easy, and they were one of the teams in the last 10 years who were pretty much all the time in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, final of the Champions League".

"Bayern have not had a great season", Lineker told iNews.

"They have a lot of speed, they have players who are tough in the duels".

However, the Brazilian has recovered in time to face Niko Kovac's side with a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs. They might have gone off the boil these past couple of weeks but that can change quickly.

"When I talk like an expert, a pundit, I think Liverpool are stronger". That's what they will look to do against Munich.

"He's released that striker's instinct in me and that allowed me to make the next step".

This will be just the second season in which these two teams have met in UEFA competition, their only previous run-ins having come during the 1980-81 European Cup semi-finals.

Goals from Michael Owen, Emile Heskey and John Arne Riise sealed a thrilling win in the meeting in Monaco.

Liverpool is undefeated in five games but has won only three of their last seven.
