Bruins Trade Ryan Donato To Wild For Charlie Coyle

Paul Fenton continues to make moves.

The Boston Bruins traded away promising forward Ryan Donato (born in Scituate, Massachusetts) along with a 2019 conditional 5th round pick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Charlie Coyle (born in Weymouth, Massachusetts). But, for some reason, the trade won't be officially announced until 10 p.m ET Wednesday.

Donato, like Coyle, can play both center and wing. In 46 career National Hockey League games, Donato has 11 goals and 7 assists, but in his first 12 games, he accumulated half of these points.

Donato struggled to carve out a role with Boston this season. He tallied just six goals and three assists in 34 games and was sent to the AHL twice, most recently January 17.

Donato, who starred at Harvard from 2015-18, played alongside Wild forward Jordan Greenway for Team USA in the 2018 Winter Olympics. According To TSN's Bob McKenzie, the Bruins will also send a fifth round pick to the Wild.

Coyle made his National Hockey League debut with the Wild in 2013 at the age of 20.

The Wild went so far as to tell Coyle not to get on the plane to NY, where Minnesota plays Thursday.

The seven-year veteran is under contract through 2020 at a $3.2-million cap hit.

He scored a career-high 56 points for the Wild during the 2016-17 season.
