New England also tied for the lead with four extra compensatory picks along with the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins.

While the Packers won't receive any additional draft picks this year, Gutekunst deserves credit for the amount of picks he has been able to add since taking over as general manager.

Keim turned out to be close, but he undersold his situation.

On Friday, though, the National Football League announced teams that were awarded compensatory picks and the Rams received two selections in the third round.

The NFL distributes compensatory picks from the third through seventh rounds of the draft each year based on a selected pool of free agents lost.

The Giants are in possession of their picks in rounds one (sixth overall), two, four, five, and six. In that swap, the Cardinals sent their original seventh-round pick - also first in the round - the Tampa Bay. It'll be the No. 212 overall pick.

The Panthers' formula for gaining the extra third-round pick weighed the losses of tight end Ed Dickson, defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and guard Andrew Norwell in free agency last spring, with the gain of cornerback Ross Cockrell and defensive tackle Dontari Poe. The seventh-round picks are No. 248, 249 and 254.

Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Linebackers Anthony Hitchens (Kansas City) and Kyle Wilber (Oakland) were the Cowboys' primary free agent departures last season.
