Although he produced seven sacks last season as the team's only consistent pass rusher, Vernon has missed nine out of 32 games over the past two seasons.

According to Rapoport, the Browns are sending guard Kevin Zeitler to the Giants.

The New York Giants have found a trade partner as they look to part with defensive end Olivier Vernon.

Vernon heads to Cleveland fresh on the heels of a career year in overall grade while Zeitler was a key component in the late-year success for Baker Mayfield last season. In 39 games with the Giants, Vernon had 130 tackles and 22 sacks.

With Zeitler, the notoriously weak Giants offensive line now boasts a consistent and durable right guard, with a high ceiling.

While the Giants have made some questionable moves over the past few years, we're still talking about the Marra family and one of the best run franchises in National Football League history. The Giants have enough weapons to be a playoff team but need to get players willing to do the dirty work. Cleveland will get a fourth-round pick (No. 132), while the Giants are getting a fifth-round selection (No. 155) in return. $8 million of that is a signing bonus that they will have to write off as dead money, so the cap savings would have been $11.5 million. While there were some late-round picks swapped, this was a rare veteran-for-veteran trade in the NFL.

Like it or not, the New York Giants are building around Eli Manning this season.

On the surface, this seems like a deal that fills needs for both teams in the 2019 season.
