'Captain Marvel' Continues to Dominate During Second Weekend at the Box Office

Captain Marvel is still doing big numbers! According to box office figures from EW, the superhero film pulled in $69.3 million in the U.S. and Canada this past weekend, keeping the film at the top of the box office charts. The $69.3 million, which is down 55 percent from its opening-weekend haul, now represents the 18th highest second-weekend in the history of movies.

In a very distant second, Paramount's animated family film "Wonder Park" struggled with $16 million against a reported $100 million budget.

The film, set in an amusement park based on the imaginings of a young girl (Brianna Denski, whose previous work included a Lysol commercial), has far to go to make up the almost US$100 million Paramount spent to make it. Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, Mila Kunis and John Oliver also provide voices.

In third was another new release, CBS and Lionsgate's teen drama Five Feet Apart, at US$13.2 million.

The movie made a further $119.7 million from other worldwide markets this weekend, boosting the movie's global results to $760.2 million after just two weeks.
