Saturday Night Live Lands Adam Sandler as First-Time Host

Everyone knows that Adam Sandler was an unforgettable cast member of Saturday Night Live in the early '90s-but did you know that he's actually never returned to host the show? He joined the cast the following year, where his colorful characters and memorable musical numbers made him a household name by the time he left the show in 1995.

On May 4, Sandler will return to "SNL" to make his hosting debut, alongside musical guest Shawn Mendes.

"We are happy to welcome Adam back to "SNL" in what is sure to be a special night," said the show's executive producer Lorne Michaels.

Sandler developed some iconic characters and sketches during his tenure like Opera Man and releasing the perennially popular Chanukah Song.

Grab your guitars and put on your red-hooded sweatshirts, because Adam Sandler will finally add another bullet point to his Hall-of-Fame SNL career: host. "It hurt a lot at the time because we were young and didn't know where we were going, but it all worked out".

He is slated to reprise his role of voicing Dracula in Hotel Transylvania 4 and his most recent comedy special, 100% Fresh is now streaming on Netflix. His next movie, "Murder Mystery" starring Jennifer Aniston, will drop later this year, according to Variety. Sandler will perform one show in Upstate New York on June 23 at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
